In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, a French sociologist named Emile Durkheim argued that deviance is not abnormal but necessary for society and our definition of good behavior. Good is clearly defined by bad. My thought is “how boring!”
Is it a positive thing in society for our understanding of “good” to have limits? We have set boundaries for bad behavior but do we need them for good?
Does good need to be defined? Or is it discovered?
