The greatest threat to you and me is not governments, laws, or policies. It’s not dictators, cult leaders, CEOs, politicians, or televangelists, or even institutions, companies, or dominations.
It is much greater than that.
The threat is not non-Christians or atheists, it’s not the strong, the weak, the poor, the rich, or the liberal or the conservative. It’s not the “evil doers”, ISIS, or any other enemy from a foreign land. It’s much closer than that.
Our greatest threat is not friends, neighbors, relatives, bosses, employees, co-workers, church-goers, teachers or classmates.
The threat is more personal than that.
The greatest threat to you and me is self-justification.
To live with the belief that I can “save” myself by what I do is terrifying. The terror is in the thought that my efforts could hold weight to the life and death of Jesus Himself, The Savior of the World. However, I know I do it constantly.
Paul put it bluntly in Galatians 5:4…
“For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.”
The very thing that keeps you alive and makes you human is Jesus and His grace. Therefore, the greatest remedy for You and Me is humility through knowing God’s Love…for you and me.
Paul continues in verse 6…
“For in Christ Jesus…The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
