Quotes

“At my stepfather's funeral, the first time I'd ever heard the cadet prayer from West Point, there's a line in there: ‘make us to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong and never be content with a half truth when the whole can be one.’ And I heard it in that moment at his funeral, and it stuck with me ever since. And I was like, that is the path.”

“(Great leaders say), this is the commitment we're gonna commit to…great leaders have that ability, but they're not there to be liked. And I think one of the things we've created in the leadership is, ‘oh, you've gotta be this all inclusive everybody likes you‘ leader. No, it's not gonna work.”

Takeaway Questions from the interview

  1. Who influenced you at a young age? How are you different because of them?

  2. What story do you tell yourself that produces only fear and anxiety?

  3. Through observing others perspectives, how have you become a better leader?
